How beautiful it is to do nothing, and then rest afterwards- Spanish proverb
In a glade in Sussex, folk gather twice a year in the woods for a spacious retreat. In between meditation, talks, rituals and shared meals, we lie down often, watch the fire in the evenings and enjoy the easy pace of one foot in front of the other.
Here, practice doesn’t pause for family life- it folds around it. Children move through the woods in their own way, and somehow that becomes part of everyone’s experience. Activities arise from the land, the imagination and the community as a whole. Among the trees, we find space to practice alongside one another, with community and connection at the heart of it all.
Like birdwatchers, we sit, we observe, and we wait for the moments of soaring beauty- and they are never far away when the woods are full of life.
All folks of all ages are welcome – it takes a village to create community.
Things to note
- We have an extensive Retreat FAQ page here. Please read this thoroughly and, if you have any questions that aren’t answered, get in touch.
- There is very limited vehicle space at this event. Please add a vehicle pass to your booking so we can keep track of the number of vehicles. Please do not bring a vehicle if the relevant pass is sold out. The site cannot accommodate live-ins larger than approximately 6m.
- If you can car-share, get a lift, or take public transport, please do. The nearest train station is Pevensey Bay, but the service is infrequent and does not run at all on Sundays. It is often better to get a train to Polegate instead, and we will share onward travel information by bus or a pickup closer to the event.
